Be true to yourself and your home-based business

“You cannot live a lie and have peace. You cannot live a lie and have joy.”

The preceding quote in Deborah King’s “Truth Heals” caught my eye. That quote illustrates the root cause behind so many of our trials and tribulations. Take me, for instance.

My roots are humble. I grew up in a fairly poor household and was the kid whose mom always dressed him funny. How times change! Today I own a home, a collector’s motorcycle, an arcade game, and other neat toys. Speaking of toys, my seven year old son already has more toys that I ever had. I’m a success!

Or am I?

I remember being six years old an dhounding my mother to buy me a toy microscope. My mother agreed but then changed her mind because we needed food. Man was I angry over that broken promise! I kept hounding and she kept refusing. I finally gave up only to have her hand me the microscope. Holding it in my hands, all I could think of was my parents going hungry just so I could have my stupid toy. Talk about guilt!

No way was I ever going to feel that kind of guilt again. I went on a decades-long spending spree, buying myself all the toys I’d wanted but never gotten. Eventually, I forgot all about the microscope.

You should have seen the look on my mother’s face when I finally told her that story. She had gotten a bonus in her paycheck and been able to afford the microscope. Nobody had gone hungry. My six year old brain interpreted that simple act of love as betrayal. Result? A good part of my life revolved around coping with fear of scarcity and denying my guilt for the better part of three decades. I let go of that fear and guilt only to be faced with having to pay for my decades-long shopping spree plus interest.

I spent decades to right a wrong that never happened and got myself deep in hock for nothing because I kept trying to buy my way to happiness.

My question to you today is simple: What is your ultimate purpose in this life and is your MOXXOR business serving that purpose? If your MOXXOR business is serving you, congratulations! It’s a safe bet that whatever problems you face in life today could be a direct result of not living your purpose. Put another way, your troubles may exist because of a gap between who you are and who you’re supposed to be. Just because it shines doesn’t make it gold. Spraying gold paint on lead is nothing more than an illusion that adds neither value nor substance.

Your MOXXOR business must serve your needs, not the other way around. That is my mantra, both for my coaching clients and my downline. I question everything because little is ever as it seems. Your MOXXOR business aside, you are on this planet to fulfill a mission… and you don’t have forever.

I am not accusing you of living a lie or walking the wrong path in life. That said, it’s a good idea to check in with yourself form time to time to make sure you’re on the right path for the right reasons. Modern society encourages us to “bottle up” our feelings and our troubles. By contrast, an aboriginal tribe gathers around its sick to let them share whatever truths that person has bottled up within them. They know what we’ve forgotten and what Deborah reminds us: truth can and will set you free.

If your MOXXOR business is serving your innermost truth, then you are prosperous beyond measure. If not, then it doesn’t matter how many zeros you have in your bank account because chances are the biggest zero of them all is inside you.
